Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative of the Youth Employment Strategy, which is the Government of Canada’s commitment to help young people between the ages of 15 and 30, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to transition successfully into the labour market.

Positions Summary

Reporting to the respective Portfolio Directors, the Community Organizer, Fundraising Organizer, and Marketing Coordinator to provide a variety of advocacy, fundraising, and marketing support. Successful applicants must be energetic, detail-oriented, and creative individuals who enjoys working within an entrepreneurial environment that is vision-based, outcomes-driven, and community-oriented. The ideal candidates will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and the ability to manage competing priorities while ensuring tact and discretion on confidential matters.

Community Organizer (2020-005)

  • Provide administrative support for the Director of Growth and Global Relations.
  • Support all initiatives related to outreach, engagement, and relationship-building with key diaspora organizations.
  • Develop and execute an up-to-date community relations strategy for increased and improved broader community engagement.
  • Seek new opportunities to participate in international development and diaspora networking initiatives.
  • Prioritize job tasks as appropriate in accordance with portfolio mandate.
  • Fundraising Organizer (2020-006)

  • Provide administrative support for the Director of Finance and Responsible Investments.
  • Support all fundraising planning, execution, and management activities.
  • Generate and convert new donor leads with a focus on sustaining donors.
  • Mature current community of donors into legacy donors.
  • Prioritize job tasks as appropriate in accordance with portfolio mandate.
  • Marketing Coordinator (2020-007)

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the Director of Brand.
  • Create engaging copy and rich media for content marketing.
  • Undertake research on social media trends and tactics and contribute to increased website and social media traffic.
  • Provide support for social media community management and increase followership.
  • Prioritize job tasks as appropriate in accordance with portfolio mandate.
  • Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must meet the criteria for a Canada Summer Jobs position for youth between the ages of 15-30.
  • Completed or pursuing post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent.
  • Excellent English writing, research, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills, MS Office, G Suite, WordPress, MailChimp, and social media channels.
  • Experience working remotely in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with minimal direct supervision a plus.
  • Familiarity with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development a plus.
  • Fluency in a second language (Tamil, French) a plus.
  • Understanding of political, sociocultural, and economic issues impacting Tamil-speaking communities in Sri Lanka is preferred.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
