Sumu Sathi is a Social Assistance Case Coordinator at York Region Community and Health Services where she was the first Tamil-speaking social worker hired by the Regional Municipality of York. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of Mandraa TV and consults as a business and life coach through BluntTRUTH. Sumu received her B.Sc. (Hons.) in Social Sciences from the University of Toronto and is currently completing her Journalism Certificate at George Brown College. She is active in the diaspora community and is a former Director of the Canadian Tamil Congress and a former President of the University of Toronto at Scarborough Tamil Students Association. Sumu has previously volunteered overseas in Tamil Nadu, India in 2009 and returned to Sri Lanka after 20 years in 2016. She is conversationally bilingual in Tamil and Sinhala.

Sumu will be placed in the position of Leadership Facilitator for two months under the Right of Return Program with the Church of the American Ceylon Mission.
